June 4th, 2010 - Hell, it's about time!
Sindragosa, last phase. For a while, everything is going smoothly, but then players start dropping in the all-too-familiar chain reaction of a wipe. The healers are tombed, the main tank goes down, the DPS bite the dust. Now, only two players are left alive - one is a tombed tree druid, the other is the intrepid bear tank Puya, left all alone with Sindragosa at just 10k HP.
That's right, Puya has just 3k health left, but damn if he didn't take her down first.
We followed that up by clearing out the Plague wing in record time (no wipes, though there was one death on Professor), and then moving on to the big bad: Arthas. Didn't have much time left, but got in a few tries and made it to phase 2 (after the transition) - unfortunately we didn't get off the rim quickly enough, so we plunged to our untimely deaths. The fight was so much fun, though, that we're extending the lockout to get some more quality time with our new BFF next week.
<ominous latin noun> comes for you, Arthas!
May 21st, 2010 - Even on our off nights, we're on!
I love the fun stuff we do on nights we don't have enough people to work on progression. Tonight Katalia decided he wants to actually get that degree he's been working for, so he was out finishing one last paper. We decided that in the absence of our main tank healer, Sindy was unlikely to bite the big one, so we figured we'd knock out the weekly (XT-002) and maybe grab some old achievements on the way. We 7-manned our way to two towers on Flame Leviathan, then stopped off to see if Razorscale had the trinket that Silinix has been pining over for a year. Lo and behold, she did! So grats, Sil, on finally getting the Eye of the Broodmother.
After two more of our regulars arrived, XT went down (and Kologarn, who sadly did not join in on the trinket-dropping action), we decided it was time for some business long overdue. Tonight was the night for Sartharion 3D. We grabbed a shadow priest buddy to fill out our 10th slot, whipped out the polarized glasses we saved from watching Avatar, and enjoyed the show. And by show, I mean the Black Drake I'm riding now. We might have to set 3D to farm until everybody gets their own. These things are sweet!
May 14th, 2010 - The Blood, and the Guts, and the Veins in my Teeth
Nice work, guys! Tonight (our second night of the week) we had only new bosses to work on, and we did some great work. The Blood Prince Council took us a bit of time to figure out the right positioning to best allow healers and our warlock tank to stand still instead of chasing people/dark nuclei all over. Once we worked that out, we got them down right away. Props on this fight to Gracasta for his awesome ranged tanking of Prince Keleseth!
Blood-Queen Lana'thel was an easier fight to learn, and we got her down in three tries to close out the night. First fight, 9%. Second fight, 5%. Third fight, we're at 5% and the second shadow bolt phase kills four players, including two of our three healers. Fyrbard, our priest, is left alone to heal two tanks, three DPS and himself. "Oh, well," he thinks, "here goes nothing." And proceeds to keep the rest of us up while we eke out the win to a background of maniacal pally laughter over Vent!
Now the only thing between us and the Lich King himself is Sindragosa. Sindy, you'd better look out!
April 2, 2010 - Good News, Everyone!
We got our first Putricide kill today, and on our very first attempt of the night! (Shh, I won't tell about the attempts on Tuesday if you won't.) It was by the skin of our teeth, but a dead boss is a dead boss. Grats to everyone for the good work, and I know we'll see smoother kills in the coming weeks.
Also awesome tonight: we downed Valithria Dreamwalker for the first time. Or is that upped, since we healed her? Whatever the case, she gave a chest full of phat lewts, and Sindragosa is on notice!
For the shiggles!
A nice ol' walk in the raids of Burning Crusade is just the thing on a day when you don't have the numbers to storm ICC. And hey, all work and no play makes Homer something something! So we went and pwned Zul'jin, Mag, Gruul, and finally 7-manned Vashj. Running BC 25-man content with 7-8 people is actually kind of fun, and not all the bosses were complete pushovers... well, okay, Vashj wasn't a total pushover. Also grats to Maeghaya, who fished up the Lurker Below to finally get the Salty title!
about us
who we are
<ominous latin noun> is a late-night 10-man Alliance raiding guild on Uldaman-US.
credo
We aren't the kind of guild to have a manifesto because, frankly, we make most of it up as we go along. We like killing bosses, we like learning new fights as well as perfecting the old, we squee when purple pixels drop and we hate lag boss - just like everyone else. We take raiding seriously enough to read strats, do theorycrafting, min-max specs, maintain different gearsets even for the same role, and put all our concentration into a kill; but we understand that real life takes absolute priority, that fun is more important than gear, and that, broadly speaking, Shit Happens.
are you a serious guild?
Balls no.
schedule
We raid Tuesday and Thursday (and sometimes Monday) nights, starting with invites going out at midnight server time (Eastern), and first pull happening no later than 12:30 (though in practice we're usually underway by that point - with a good chance of having killed a boss already). We usually call it a night by 3am unless we are on an exceptional roll and everyone wants to keep going.
recruiting
We're currently only looking for ranged DPS. You don't need to be a highly experienced raider - a number of us raided little or not at all pre-Wrath - but you should be, before all else, willing to learn and take initiative to improve yourself as a player.
Another important factor is maturity. While it would be a lie to say our vent chatter upholds the highest standard of sophisticated conversation, we expect a certain behaviour which one might call "being an adult", if "adult" includes laughing at fart jokes. Being comfortable with people of different races, genders, religions, orientations, and political persuasion is also pretty much a given.
For more information, always feel free to whisper Puya, Ultimohombre or Fyrbard.
current progress
This section is likely to be not quite up-to-the-minute, so check the sidebar on the right for our actual progress. As of this writing we're progressing through Icecrown Citadel, occasionally doing older content for shiggles. We've defeated every normal mode in Wrath pre-ICC except Yogg... and we'll be back for him when we have the chance. The limiting factor is mainly time, as we only raid 2 nights a week, so if you're looking for a guild willing to give up work/family/social life to raid 6 nights a week, this is not the guild for you.
